About Me
Alex serves as the Director for Student Engagement, where he provides oversight and leads the department and its respective teams: Student Governance, Student Org Development & Admin (SODA), Student Org Finance Center (SOFC), Spirit & Traditions, and Student Sustainability.
Alex previously served as the Senior Associate Director for Student Engagement and Assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success, Inclusion & Belonging, where he oversaw the Student Org Development & Admin (SODA) and the Student Org Finance Center (SOFC) Teams. He played a key role in the creation and development of the department, which was formed in 2019.
Since 2018, Alex has also served as the Advisor to Illinois Student Government. He also coordinates Student Spirit Engagement inclusive of the Illinois Spirit & Traditions Council.
Alex started working at Illinois in 2014 as the Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, where he served as the Advisor to the Black Greek Council and the United Greek Council. Prior to arriving at Illinois, he worked for his fraternity's headquarters as the Director for Volunteer Engagement, Membership & Operations. In addition, Alex has also worked at Northwestern University as an Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life and at Texas A&M University as a Chapter Education & Operations Specialist.
Alex's educational interests include risk management/prevention, hazing prevention, food insecurity, and the growth and development of culturally founded/based fraternities and sororities. He is also a member of NASPA, Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education.
An active member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, Alex assists with volunteer initiatives. He has previously served his fraternity in various roles, including Chapter Advisement (Loyola Chicago, Millikin & K-State), Alumni Chapter President (K-State), and a facilitator for various national programs.
More recently, Alex was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Kansas State University Alumni Association. Bleeding purple, he is proud of his alma mater and
Outside of Student Engagement, Alex enjoys staying active by running, working out, and teaching group fitness classes.
