After completing his bachelor’s degree, Sammy was a researcher for the University of Illinois Energy and Biosciences Institute where he helped to improve the breeding and selection methods for bioenergy crops for the purpose of environmental stewardship. Eventually he went back to school to pursue his graduate degree while also serving as a teaching assistant for the School of Integrative Biology and the Department of Linguistics. Upon completion of his program, Sammy taught science for 4 years at Unity High School in Tolono, IL, and Jefferson Middle School in Champaign, IL. Outside of work, Sammy is a perpetually disappointed Chicago Bulls fan and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
