Janet began working at Illinois in 2017 with the former Office of Registered Organizations (now Student Engagement). Originally from Maryland, Janett attended Morgan State University where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration. While at Morgan State, Janett become a Resident Assistant which launched her career in student affairs. Upon graduation, Janett was offered a position as a residence hall director given her expertise and talents in working with housing.
During her years working with residence life and housing at a variety of institutions across the country, Janett was an active member of MACUHO (the Mid-Atlantic College & University Housing Officers) Association, a professional housing and residence life organization. During her years a member, she served as the Coordinator of the Case Study Competition, Regional Coordinator for both Maryland and Western Pennsylvania, and as a member of the Personal & Professional Development Committee. Janett enjoyed her conference experiences dearly, so much so, she would tell her staff that she was off to her professional family reunion!
Janett has served in a variety of roles in housing and residence life. As an undergraduate student, she became an active member of RHA, the Residence Hall Association, and NRHH, the National Residence Hall Honorary. She would later go onto advise student delegations for CAACURH (the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College & University Residence Halls) and NACURH (the National Association of College & University Residence Halls) conferences.
Now in the world of student engagement, Janett enjoys working with student organizations. Her biggest projects are Quad Day and the Involvement Fair.
